⭐⭐⭐⭐
The series is brilliant tackling the subject of killing hundreds to save millions. The story borrows from a few sci-fi novels and movies specially Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. Is it ethical to create clones for experiment that kills them in order to save humanity? The illegality of owning pets is borrowed from Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?. The dialog-heavy style which many viewers find boring is similar to Danny Boyle's movie Sunshine and the Russian movie Solaris. IMHO, the story is complete and doesn't need a second season. You draw your own conclusion based on what happened.
Spoilers
In this series, it is not easy to separate the good people from the bad with the exception of the 3 survivors. Captain Han and Ryu both are tainted although Ryu was a victim of his own government and he tried to be righteous by stealing the water samples to hand over to a foreign group to deny them the glory of finding the solution to water problems on earth. Song's sister justified creating and killing clones to save humanity.
Bae Doona and Lee Joon are outstanding. Bae Doona as Dr. Song is gentle and speaks softly all the time specially to the feral moon child Luna. She surmises she and Luna share some DNA because Luna was cloned from the combined DNAs of her sister and the woman on the photo that Luna keeps with her in bed. Luna knows where she came from and probably feels a kinship with Dr. Song.

Bae Doona is one of my favorite Korean actresses. I first saw her in the Japanese High School dorama Linda Linda Linda when she was 26 years old playing a 19 year old exchange student in Japan. I've seen maybe 90% of her movies and TV series. So, yep, I'm a huge fan.
